Cisse welcome at Marseille

Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo claims Djibril Cisse would be welcomed back this summer.

Striker free to return to Stade Velodrome, should he wish to do so

Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo claims Djibril Cisse would be welcomed back this summer. The France international striker spent the 2008/09 campaign on loan at Sunderland, but the Black Cats have decided against making that move permanent. Reports suggest Cisse is attracting interest from other Premier League clubs, but no deal has been put in place. That means the 27-year-old could be forced to head back to Stade Velodrome ahead of the 2009/10 campaign. Anigo insists that would not be a problem, with Marseille happy to bring him into their fold.

No problem

"He will be welcome here, as he should be," he told Aujourd'hui Sport. "He has a position within the squad. We never forced him out and he could come back without any problems should he wish to do so." It remains unclear where Cisse's future will lie, with his agent admitting he is yet to receive any contact from interested parties. "I had a phone call with him a fortnight ago and he has had no contact," revealed Ranko Stojic. "I have nothing else to say so far, except that he is happy in England."
