Teenage striker staying with stricken Darlington

Fulham have elected not to follow up their initial interest in teenage Darlington striker Curtis Main. Main, the Quakers' youngster-ever player and goalscorer, spent a spell on trial with the Cottagers recently but they have decided not to make a bid for his services. North East duo Newcastle and Middlesbrough have also been credited with an interest in the 16-year-old forward. With the Quakers in administration and facing an uncertain future if no buyer can be found, it remains to be seen whether they can take their place in League Two next season. A statement on Darlington's official website read: "Curtis Main will not be joining Fulham after the Premier League club decided to monitor the teenager's progress. "Newcastle and Middlesbrough have shown an interest in Main but he is to stay with the Quakers for the time being."
