Manchester City star Robinho believes the cash-fuelled club will be contenders for the Premier League title next season.
City were taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group last summer, and owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan's financial muscle has overseen a number of captures.
Brazilian playmaker Robinho has so far proved the most expensive arrival after he joined from Real Madrid for a British record transfer fee of £32.5million.
City currently sit eighth in the table, but Robinho, who is set to meet leaders Manchester United on Sunday, believes his side will push their North West rivals all the way next campaign.
He said in The Sun: "I admit I am a little envious of United's success, but that is only normal. But I intend to help change all that and I think that City will fight for the title next season.
"I am convinced things will change. Historically City are one of the great English clubs, we need to be top of the table and I am sure the owners' objective is to buy a super team this summer.
"It's up to the owners but from what I hear there has been some interesting contact with superstars."
