Manchester United defender Wes Brown has been ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.

Brown has endured an injury-ravaged term with a foot problem and he will now miss the finale of the campaign as United look to retain their Premier League and UEFA Champions League crowns.

The England international last featured for United in the win over Everton at the end of January as he struggled with the troublesome injury.

Brown recently featured in a couple of reserve outings, but he has suffered a setback in training to sideline him for the final few weeks of the season.

"Wes has had a bit of a setback during the week and that's knocked him back a bit," manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed.

"It is not major but the fact the season is coming to an end makes it difficult for him.

"We have Gary [Neville] back fit so we are not too bad. But it is disappointing for Wes."
