Gunners keen on El Shaarawi

Interest mounts in Genoa starlet

Reports in Italy suggest Arsenal are tracking Italian starlet Stephan El Shaarawi. The 16-year-old has seen his profile on the rise this term after being awarded a first-team debut by Genoa in December. He has already represented Italy at U17 level, opting against the opportunity to play for Egypt - the birthplace of his father. A number of impressive performances have now caught the eye of Europe's top clubs, with the talented teenager attracting a host of admirers. El Shaarawi is seen as a promising playmaker, with the ability to become a household name in the future. Genoa are believed to be open to sending him out on loan next season to offer him valuable experience, but could be persuaded to sell if the price is right. It is believed that an offer of around 6million euros (£5.3m) could be enough to force the Serie A club's hand. El Shaarawi has refused to rule out the prospect of moving on this summer, but claims his sole focus at present is to ensure that he continue to progress in a positive manner. "My dream is to play at the top level like any footballer," he said.
