Sunderland centre-back Nyron Nosworthy is set to miss the rest of the season after sustaining another hamstring injury.
The player suffered the setback while playing for Sunderland reserves in the Reserve League Cup final against Derby on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old limped off in the 53rd minute of the Black Cats' 3-1 victory at Pride Park, the latest blow after only recently returning from a hamstring tear.
Neil Bailey, the Black Cats first team and reserve team coach, told the club's official website: "It's a hamstring injury but we don't think it's a recurrence of the original one.
"It put a dampener on the win."
Nosworthy has made 16 starts for Sunderland in the Premier League this term, although he has not featured in the top flight since January.
