Bordeaux claim they have been offered the opportunity to sign Portsmouth forward John Utaka.
The Nigeria international has struggled to make an impact on the South Coast since leaving Stade Rennais in 2007 and has scored only five goals in 43 games.
Pompey now appear prepared to let the 27-year-old, who cost £7million, leave Fratton Park and Bordeaux boss Laurent Blanc is considering his options.
The French club's chairman Jean-Louis Triaud told Aujourd'hui: "We have been offered John Utaka.
"I told coach Laurent Blanc, but I am not managing the sport aspect. I passed the information on, but it is up to the coach to make his decision.
"No decision has been made yet. I know Utaka wants to come back to France."
