Italian planning long Liverpool stay

Andrea Dossena has expressed his desire to stay with Liverpool at least until the end of his contract. The 27-year-old had spent his entire career in Italy when he decided to leave his homeland last summer and join the Reds from Udinese. He endured a disappointing start to his Anfield career and lost his place in the side after several unconvincing performances. However, Dossena has made an impact from the substitutes' bench in Liverpool's last two games, scoring the fourth goal against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League and then doing the same at Manchester United. He has refused to rule out a return to Serie A at some point in the future but is eager to remain with Liverpool for as long as he is wanted. "I have a three-year contract and I am happy here," he told the Uefa website. "Of course, I keep an eye on Italy - it's my homeland, so never say never. "But as I said, I feel very good here after a difficult start. I will discuss it with (Rafa) Benitez and the club and then we will see."
