Chris Brunt believes Tony Mowbray has the characteristics required to guide West Brom away from the Premier League drop zone.
The Baggies won promotion from the Championship last season, but have found it hard going in England's top flight and are currently bottom of the table six points adrift of Newcastle United.
West Brom suffered blips in form last season and former Sheffield Wednesday winger Brunt believes the team must learn from their experiences if they are to retain their Premier League status.
"The gaffer is a strong man and he showed that last year when we got promotion back to the Premier League," said Brunt.
"We were expected to walk away with the Championship but we had little blips when results went against us at times - and he stayed strong.
"Hopefully, we can learn from our experiences last year. I know it's a different league this year but it's a similar situation.
"The only difference is we now need to pick up as many points as we can to stay in this league, which is what everyone wants, rather than to get into it."
