Chelsea have confirmed that starlet Gael Kakuta has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a seriously broken ankle.
The 17-year-old fractured his leg and dislocated his ankle in an innocuous challenge during a training game on Monday.
Kakuta, who joined the Stamford Bridge side from Lens in 2007, is now looking to return to action in the summer.
Chelsea youth director Frank Arnesen said: "It is very serious and he will be out more or less for the rest of the season.
"It happens in football, but we will take good care of him and hopefully he will be back in three months' time."
