Birmingham City midfielder Mehdi Nafti has been told that he can leave St Andrew's on loan

McLeish happy to let Tunisian international seek a move

Birmingham City midfielder Mehdi Nafti has been told that he can leave St Andrew's on loan once temporary moves are permitted again from the start of next week. The Tunisian international, 30, has not figured for the Blues since the end of November and is out of contract in the summer. Nafti was unable to secure a move during the January transfer window but will be allowed to leave on an emergency loan after slipping down the pecking order at Birmingham.

"He said he needs to play and I totally understand that," Blues boss Alex McLeish told Birmingham's website. "He's a very experienced holding midfielder, but we've got other players vying for the position so it's difficult to play them all. "Mehdi has assured me he'll be giving everything in training and he will be available if I need him."
