Stoke boss Tony Pulis has insisted he did not try to sign Cardiff midfielder Joe Ledley on deadline day.
The Potters secured the services of Wigan striker Henri Camara on loan on Monday and reports have suggested Pulis was also interested in Ledley.
Pulis has dismissed the claims but admitted that he did want to strengthen his squad further before the close of the transfer window.
"I think everybody knows how much I like Ledley and I think he will eventually play in the Premier League," Pulis said in the Stoke Sentinel.
"But we were looking for a different type of midfielder this time, one we missed out on."
Meanwhile, Stoke midfielder Demar Phillips has joined Norwegian side Alesund on a free transfer.
Phillips has struggled to make an impact with the Potters since moving to the Britannia Stadium in August 2007.
