Defender looks to settle in quickly at Stadium of Light

Calum Davenport is eager to play a role in keeping Sunderland in the Premier League following his loan move. The West Ham United defender completed a deadline day switch to the Stadium of Light for the rest of the season. Black Cats boss Ricky Sbragia had been anxious to improve his defensive options during the transfer window and also brought in Tal Ben Haim from Manchester City. He had been restricted to just eight appearances for the Hammers this season and is out to make an impact during his time in the North East. And the former Tottenham centre-half also hopes knowing several members of the Sunderland squad already will help him to quickly settle in. "Sunderland is a massive club and I'm really looking forward to playing a part in the vital run-in to the end of the season," Davenport told the club's official website. "I know quite a few of the lads already. "I've played with Anton, George, Reidy, Steed, Teemu and Marton, so I'm sure that will help me to settle in quickly."
