Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has confirmed that the club have temporarily ended negotiations for Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
The 24-year-old Serbian has been linked with a switch to the Viola after failing to establish himself since his £8.9million switch from Lokomotiv Moscow last January.
But Corvino told Radio Blu that while they have tracked the player, it is not certain that he will arrive in Italy.
"I say this not to create false expectations," he said. "I can't deny that we have followed him as have so many others."
Despite this declaration, the Italian press believe the club could resolve the situation in the next few weeks for the player - who has also been linked with Manchester City and Inter Milan - to move in the summer.
Meanwhile, Manuel Da Costa has left Fiorentina to join Sampdoria on a six month loan.
