Everton talisman Tim Cahill has been spared a lengthy spell on the sidelines after X-rays revealed no break in his foot.
Cahill limped off injured towards the end of the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday, with the club fearing that their form player could be missing for several games as a result.
Cahill had been playing as a makeshift striker for the Toffees in the absence of injured frontmen Louis Saha, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and James Vaughan, and another absentee would have dealt a huge blow to David Moyes' options in attack.
But while serious injury has been avoided, heavy bruising means that the Australian is still a major doubt for the club's trip to Old Trafford on Saturday.
