Lyon striker Fred's brother and agent has accused Harry Redknapp of lying after the Tottenham Hotspur boss claimed the Brazilian failed to turn up for a meeting.
Redknapp is interested in the forward but said on Tuesday that the 25-year-old failed to attend an arranged get-together in London.
However, Fred's representative, Rodrigo, has hit out at the claims, and confirmed that the disagreement means the player will no longer be signing at White Hart Lane.
He said in the Daily Mirror: "What Redknapp said is a lie, Fred never said he would come to a meeting.
"Redknapp said he would come to see us in France on Sunday but he did not come.
"Then everything changed, they suddenly wanted us to come to Tottenham but they let us down so he will not be joining them. It's as simple as that."
Fred is keen to depart Stade Gerland this transfer window, with his current contract due to expire in the summer.
