Coventry are expected to complete the loan signing of Sunderland winger Jordan Henderson on Thursday.
The highly-rated 18-year-old will be sent to the Ricoh Arena in order to allow him the opportunity to experience regular first-team football.
Having failed as yet to force his way into contention at the Stadium of Light, it has been decided that his development is best served elsewhere.
Ricky Sbragia is keen to see all of his young stars cut their teeth in the Football League and has already allowed a host of players to leave on short-term deals this season.
Henderson will be hoping his time in the Midlands sees him impress the Black Cats' coaching staff sufficiently to see him brought into the senior fold upon his return.
He was handed a first taste of Premier League action as a substitute during a clash with Chelsea in November last year, while he was then awarded his first start in a Carling Cup defeat to Blackburn a few days later.
However, he has not featured again since and a change of scenery may help to reinvigorate his game.
