Mido has spoken of his relief at sealing his loan switch from Middlesbrough to Wigan Athletic.

The Egyptian striker has joined the Latics on loan until the end of the season.

Mido had grown unsettled in the North East, and is now looking forward to his time at the JJB Stadium.

"I was far from being happy at Boro," the 25-year-old is quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.

"The situation of the club was very poor due to the bad results, and this atmosphere allowed more problems to surface.

"I started feeling I need to be in another place to feel happy again. For a month and a half, I didn't feel happy to train at Boro because of the many problems there.

"I started to feel happy again when I attended my first training session with Wigan on Friday."
