Redknapp rules out Cudicini

Harry Redknapp has stepped up his pursuit of a new goalkeeper after allowing Cesar Sanchez to join Valencia. The veteran Spanish shot-stopper left for the Mestalla on Friday, bringing to an end a short-lived spell at White Hart Lane. The 37-year-old only joined Spurs over the summer but, having completed a medical, has now put the finishing touches on a return to his homeland. While he failed to shine in England his departure does leave Redknapp woefully short on keeping options. With that in mind, reports have suggested that Chelsea's experienced Italian Carlo Cudicini may be an option.

No-goer

Redknapp insists the 35-year-old is not in his plans, but does admit that any new recruit must meet high standards. "I'm nowhere near to signing Cudicini," he said. "We're looking for another good goalkeeper." Meanwhile, Redknapp has also ruled out an approach for West Ham striker Carlton Cole, despite making it known that he is in the market for a striker. "I'm sure West Ham would not want to sell him so that is an absolute no-goer," he added.
