City manager reveals no personal contact with Kaka and slams speculation

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has stressed that the potentially record-breaking Kaka deal will take time to be completed, if it does go through. The Brazilian superstar is being linked with a £100million-plus transfer to the Eastlands club, but fans who expect to see Kaka arrive in Manchester over the next few days may well be disappointed. "It's not going to be a deal that's done overnight," insisted Hughes to Sky Sports. "It's not a case of just speaking to the club and speaking to the player and it's done in 48 hours, it's too complex and too large a deal to be able to do that in that short space of time. "I'm sure it will take a lot longer than people anticipate it will, but we've shown our intent and we would like to bring him to the club if at all possible."

Long way to go

Despite the solid interest, Hughes has also revealed that the club have not yet spoken to the player himself, and any speculation over personal terms is wide of the mark. "We've got a long way to go, a lot of bridges to cross before we even get to talk to the boy himself in regard to his personal terms," he added. "I've been disappointed in fairness with the reaction in some parts to the prospect of Kaka coming here, and some of the discussions in relation to his prospective personal deal has been totally out of order. "We're nowhere near that stage of discussing his deal - if he does get one - so for people to speculate wildly is totally out of order."
