Bolton have agreed a deal with Benfica to sign Ariza Makukula on loan until the end of the season.

Benfica striker set for Premier League after all

Bolton Wanderers have agreed a deal with Benfica to sign Ariza Makukula on loan until the end of the season.

Makukula turned down a similar move to Premier League strugglers West Brom on Thursday after the clubs had agreed a deal.

However, the Portuguese striker could now secure a move to England after Benfica accepted an offer from Bolton.

The former Nantes forward is set to head to the Reebok Stadium on loan, with the option of a 5million euros (£4.5million) transfer in the summer.

Trotters boss Gary Megson has been determined to increase the numbers in his squad during the transfer window and has already seen bids for Jimmy Bullard, James Morrison and Joey Barton rejected.

Megson has brought in Sebastian Puygrenier and is now close to adding Makukula to his squad ahead of Saturday's game with Manchester United.
