Spanish ace back in training

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has declared himself fit for next week's Merseyside derby meeting with Everton. The Spanish schemer missed last weekend's draw with Stoke after picking up a foot injury in the FA Cup win at Preston. Alonso had seven stitches in the foot injury, but he is now back in training and he is ready to face Everton at Anfield on Monday night. "I am back training. I had the stitches taken out on Monday," Alonso told the club's official website. "I'm still a little bit sore in that area. Right now I am able to play with the inside of my foot but my instep will be okay for Monday."

Agger's future

Meanwhile, reports emanating from Italy claim AC Milan are stepping up their interest in Liverpool defender Daniel Agger. Widespread reports have claimed Agger's agent met with Milan officials in Italy to discuss a possible move to the San Siro. Agger's future at Liverpool has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months with talks over a new deal stalling. Reds boss Rafa Benitez would be loathe to lose Agger during this month's transfer window as they challenge for the title, but he could face a fight to keep hold of the Dane in the summer.
