Taye Taiwo claims to have no knowledge of a reported approach from Manchester City for his services.
The full-back is currently on the books of French giants Marseille, but has regularly found himself at the centre of transfer speculation in the past.
Now it has been claimed that City, keen to put their considerable riches to good use during the January transfer window, have enquired as to his availability.
The Nigeria international, who was linked with Sunderland over the summer, admits a move to England would appeal to him, but believes City's recent acquisition of Wayne Bridge would appear to suggest that the Blues are well-stocked in his area of the field.
"I know there are contacts but I am not aware that a bid has been put in," Taiwo told skysports.com.
"I am sure that one day I will play in the Premier League. Will that happen in January? You would have to talk with Mr Pape Diouf (Marseille president).
"I have a contract with Marseille and, while Man City are a very good club, they have just bought a quality left-back. We will just have to wait and see what happens."
