Udinese warn interested clubs midfielder is not for sale

Udinese have warned any potential suitors of midfielder Christian Obodo that he is not for sale. Obodo has been linked with a move to Portsmouth as manager Tony Adams looks to find a replacement for Lassana Diarra after his move to Real Madrid. Adams' search for a combative midfielder became a bigger priority with the news that Papa Bouba Diop will be out for three months after straining knee ligaments against Arsenal. Obodo has not started a Serie A game for Udinese this season instead he has had to wait for his chance in the Uefa Cup where he has made three starts, scoring one goal. Udinese began the season strongly but have since fallen away and currently lie 12th in the table and without a league win in eight games. Despite his lack of first team action the 24-year-old Nigerian international has attracted interest from fellow Italian side Lazio and most recently Espanyol in Spain. However Udinese, who have managed to qualify for the last 32 of the Uefa Cup, have expressed their desire to keep their man. "Udinese are willing to take advantage of the benefits of having Obodo," the club's general director Pietro Leonardi said. "One thing is clear. We shall not sell any of our big players in January, and that includes Obodo."
