Wide man attracts interest from Championship duo

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale is confident of signing on-loan winger Wayne Routledge, despite strong competition from QPR. The Aston Villa wide man has been a big hit at Ninian Park since joining the Bluebirds from Villa and it is such form that has not gone unnoticed elsewhere. Routledge, 23, looks certain to quit Villa Park permanently in the January transfer window and Ridsdale is confident he could stay at Cardiff beyond 17th January, when his loan expires. "We have made an offer for Wayne to Aston Villa and discussed personal terms," Ridsdale told the Western Mail. "We are very hopeful about signing him on a permanent deal after his excellent spell on loan with us."
