Walker linked with MLS move

Ian Walker has quit Bolton after cancelling his contract by mutual consent. The former Tottenham goalkeeper failed to make a single league appearance for Bolton after joining on a free transfer from Leicester in 2005. The 37-year-old is well down the pecking order at the Reebok Stadium behind Jussi Jaaskelainen and Ali Al-Habsi. Walker asked for the club to release him and Trotters boss Gary Megson has agreed to let the former England international move on. "Ian has been kicking his heels for a while because we've got a lot of good goalkeepers here and competition is fierce," Megson told The Sun. "He asked if he could have his contract cancelled which we've agreed to and he goes with our best wishes."
