Martin O'Neill has no doubts defender Nicky Shorey will come good at Aston Villa.
The former Reading defender is currently out of the first-team picture at Villa Park with Luke Young currently occupying his left-back spot.
Shorey, who spent seven seasons with The Royals, has made 11 Premier League starts under O'Neill, although he has finished the game in just four of those outings.
Although Shorey is out of form and out of the side, O'Neill has no doubts that the 27-year-old has the right character to come back stronger from the experience.
"Nicky's got plenty of determination. I'm sure he'll come through this," stated O'Neill. "There will be hiccups but Nicky will come again."
