Arsenal are set to hand Jay Simpson a new long-term contract, skysports.com understands.
The 19-year-old forward burst onto the first-team scene at Arsenal this season in the Carling Cup.
Arsene Wenger likes to blood his best young talent in the League Cup and Simpson was one of those to benefit hugely from the experience.
Simpson scored a brace on his full debut in the 3-0 win over Wigan to highlight his potential.
The London-born youngster spent last season on loan at League One Millwall, but he returned to Arsenal in the summer looking to make an impact.
He looks to have sufficiently impressed Wenger, who is now set to tie him down to a new two-and-half-year deal.
It is also believed Simpson could be allowed to move out on loan again in January with Premier League and Championship clubs thought to be interested.
