Steve Bruce insists Antoine Sibierski could have a future at Wigan after he joined Norwich on loan.

Forward keen on regular first-team football at Carrow Road

Steve Bruce insists Antoine Sibierski could still have a future at Wigan Athletic, despite allowing the forward to join Norwich City on loan. Sibierski has linked up with the Championship club until January after making just one brief substitute's appearance for Wigan before the transfer window closed. The experienced Frenchman was keen to secure regular first-team football and Bruce applauds Sibierski's decision to drop out of the Premier League. And Bruce is prepared to review the 34-year-old's situation in the New Year before reaching a final decision on the attacker's Wigan career.

Big problem

"Sibi wanted this move because he wanted to play, which is something I totally understand," Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post. "We have the option to bring him back in January, so no, it's not the end of the road here. "The big problem when you carry a squad is that everyone wants to play, and it is difficult for a manager to find a balance. "When you get to the age Sibi is, players just want to play regularly, not sit on the bench every week. "Norwich were on his trail for six or eight weeks before the move went through. In the end, I let him make the decision of whether he went or not, and it was his call to go and play at Norwich. "I admire him for doing that. I have no problem with that decision. "I'm sure Sibi will do well there and we'll have a look at his position again in the New Year when this loan is coming to an end."
