Hull City are reported to be one of the clubs looking to sign Benfica striker Ariza Makukula.
The Tigers are believed to have had the Portuguese international watched as he scored against Paris Saint Germain in a pre-season match last week.
The 27-year-old appears to be only on the fringes of coach Quique Flores' squad and a number of clubs are now making enquiries.
Maritimo - where he enjoyed a terrific loan spell last season - want him back, but Hull could now be ready to offer the chance of Premier League football.
Reports have also credited Stoke with an interest and a Benifca spokesman has confirmed they are looking at Makukula's situation.
"The decision about the future of Makukula corresponds to the coach," a Benfica spokesman told skysports.com.
"But in reference to this we are managing some things."
It is believed Benfica are willing to let Makukula leave on loan, but Flores wants another striker in first with Luis Garcia of Espanyol his top target.
