Sunderland midfielder Dwight Yorke will miss Saturday's testing trip to Liverpool through injury.

Midfielder ruled out with injury

Sunderland have been dealt a blow ahead of their tough trip to Liverpool on Saturday evening with the news that Dwight Yorke will miss the game. The veteran midfielder failed to reappear for the second half of Tuesday's win over Birmingham at the Stadium of Light. Black Cats boss Roy Keane told the Sunderland Echo: "We lost Dwight Yorke to a calf problem at half-time and that means he's going to miss the game this weekend, so that gives us something to think about. "Losing Yorkie at half time certainly disrupted us - it took us 15 minutes to get going again - even though I know his replacement got our second goal. "So he will be a miss at the weekend."

Dream start

Sunderland lifted themselves out of the Premier League relegation zone following the 2-0 victory over the Blues and substitute Rade Prica - Yorke's replacement - is keen to continue his dream start at Liverpool after scoring on his debut. The 27-year-old Swede, who moved to Wearside from Aalborg last week, said: "It is always hard when you come into your first game, especially going on at half-time. "You expect a lot of yourself and the audience expects a lot.
Important
"But when that goal came it was very important for me and the team. "To get a goal and a win does not get much better. It was a very important game for us and I knew that, even though I have only been here a few days. "Now we go to Liverpool, one of the really big teams here in England, and it's a dream to go there and play. "But for me as a player and us as a team, it will only be a good dream if we get something from the game."
