Brazilian set for Spurs medical
Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Hertha Berlin defender Gilberto after the Brazilian flew to London to undergo a medical.
Hertha coach Lucien Favre has confirmed Gilberto has been given permission to travel to England to hold talks and have a medical at White Hart Lane.
Gilberto is out of contract at the end of the season and reports suggested Spurs were planning to sign the left-back on a pre-contract for next season.
The 31-year-old was hoping to secure a move away from Hertha before the end of the month and Spurs are now ready to grant him his wish.
Spurs are now believed to have agreed a deal to sign Gilberto before the close of the transfer window next week.
Spurs boss Juande Ramos has decided to push through a deal for the Brazilian international as he is currently short on options at left-back, with Gareth Bale and Benoit Assou-Ekotto both out with long-term injuries.
