Mehdi Nafti wants his future sorted out as soon as possible, given his current deal expires in the summer.
The Tunisian international, who has made 17 appearances for Birmingham this season, is set to become a free agent after entering the final six months of his contract.
The midfielder has already spoken to boss Alex McLeish, but as he is due to report for international duty at the African Cup of Nations in January, he is keen to get matters resolved sooner rather than later.

"I want to make sure my future is sorted out because I'm in the last year of my contract," Nafti said.
"I went to the manager to find out what he expects from me before I go to Africa.
"I just want to know about my future at the club. It's important for my own mind to know before I go away, so we will have to see.
"The reaction from the manager has been positive. I played in his first two games before being suspended for Saturday's game with Reading and he has been happy with me.
"I know when I come back (from Africa) it's not going to be easy for me but I will fight for my place and my only wish is for the team to win games while I am away."
Whirlwind
Goalkeeper Maik Taylor's contract is also due to run out in the summer, and Alex McLeish has confirmed that he will sit down with both players when he gets the time.
"They (talks with Taylor and Nafti) will come but it has all been a bit of a whirlwind since I came here," the Blues boss said.
"They are on the list, but a wee bit down it at the moment."
