Leroy Lita has reiterated his happiness at Reading as talks continue over a new contract.

Reading are hoping to persuade the England Under 21 international to sign a four-year deal to stay at The Madejski Stadium.

Lita is not getting heavily involved in the negotiations and admits his focus is on helping the club to build on an impressive debut season in the Premier League.

"I'm happy to leave all the talking to my agent and the club so I can concentrate on my football," said Lita in the Daily Star.

"I'm happy here. This is an important year for me and the club, and I just want to play and be successful.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge of carrying on our success of last season."

The striker has a further two seasons to run on his existing contract and manager Steve Coppell is not concerned by the situation.

Coppell said: "There's no rush. Leroy has two years left on his contract, so it's not as if we have our backs to the wall.

"We are at the preliminary stage of talks, but we always want to reward the players who have done well for us and Leroy is one of those."
