Sven Goran Eriksson is urging Elano to recapture his form as Manchester City look to push for a European place.
The midfielder enjoyed a successful start at Eastlands after his £8million move from Shakhtar Donetsk at the start of the season.
He is expected to be back in the starting line-up for City's game against Wigan on Saturday after only starting from the bench last time out.
Eriksson is calling on the 26-year-old to again show his potential and is confident he can prove his worth.
"Elano needs games now," Eriksson told the Daily Express.
"Looking at him in training, I think he's on the right track again.
"His start to the season was marvellous, but it's normal for players coming to the Premier League for the first time to fade a little.
"We want to see Elano in the same form as he was at the beginning of the season.
"We need him to be at his best if we're to qualify for Europe."
