Bobby Olejnik - Peterborough
Peterborough remain just outside the Championship relegation zone on goal difference following their tense 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at London Road on Saturday. Goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik played a key role in their latest success with his clean sheet drawing the Owls dangerously close to the bottom three ahead of the final round of fixtures this weekend. The Austrian had to be alert to beat away an effort from Giles Coke in the first half and then demonstrated his ability with a fine save from Leroy Lita after the interval.
Tom Kennedy - Barnsley
Barnsley are another side battling to avoid relegation to League One and they remain in the bottom three of the Championship despite their impressive 2-0 success at home to promotion-chasing Hull City at Oakwell on Saturday. The Tigers travelled to West Yorkshire hoping to secure elevation to the Premier League but still have work to do if they are to rejoin the elite after drawing a blank on their travels. Defender Tom Kennedy had to be alert in the first half as he reacted quickly to clear from under his own crossbar after George Boyd had beaten Luke Steele.
Greg Halford - Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest ended a damaging run of six games without a victory with a 1-0 triumph away to Millwall to give themselves renewed hope of securing a play-off berth this weekend. Billy Davies' side currently sit outside the top six on goal difference ahead of Saturday's season finale against Leicester, but they have a chance of prolonging their campaign thanks to Greg Halford's efforts against Millwall. The defender helped his team keep a clean sheet against the FA Cup semi-finalists having scored the only goal of the game with a close range header early on.
Daniel Pudil - Watford
Watford remain in contention to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League after back-to-back victories with Hull City - who have taken just one point from their last three games - now just one point ahead of them in second place. Friday's triumph away to Leicester City kept up the pressure on the Tigers with on-loan Granada defender Daniel Pudil making a key contribution to their success. Chris Wood looked certain to find the net for the Foxes as he was poised to convert Anthony Knockaert's cross only for the Czech defender to hook the ball away.
Luke Chambers - Ipswich
Ipswich ensured that they will be playing Championship football once again next season with a 3-1 victory over Birmingham City at Portman Road. Mick McCarthy's side were quickly out of the blocks against Blues and were already a goal to the good when centre-back Luke Chambers headed home Aaron Cresswell's precision free-kick from the left from close range. Chambers, who was recently voted the Players' Player of the Year by his Tractor Boys colleagues, was part of a well organised defence which was only breached by the visitors in the closing stages.
Nathaniel Chalobah - Watford
There are goals, there are good goals, and then there is Nathaniel Chalobah's winner for Watford in their vital victory over Leicester City. The on-loan Chelsea teenager let fly with a first-time right-footed effort of astonishing power and precision from around 30 yards out, which gave Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel not a prayer of keeping it out as the ball ripped into the top corner of his net with fearsome ferocity. Fans of the Stamford Bridge side will hope to see more of the same when the youngster is given the chance to make his mark on the Blues' first-team.
Jacob Mellis - Barnsley
If Barnsley are to avoid relegation from the Championship this season, then their supporters are sure to look back on Jacob Mellis' superb effort against Hull City as key moment in their battle to stay in the second tier of English football. The 22-year-old midfielder set the Tykes on their way to a crucial three-point haul against Steve Bruce's second-placed side with only four minutes on the clock when he was played into the box by Chris O'Grady before smashing home beyond David Stockdale from a tight angle via the underside of the crossbar.
Grant McCann - Peterborough
There were some impressive strikes in the Championship this weekend, with Grant McCann's wonderful free-kick for Peterborough in their 1-0 success against Sheffield Wednesday another example of the talent which is on show outside the Premier League. Darren Ferguson's men have their fate in their own hands going into the final round of fixtures on Saturday after McCann curled home an outstanding set-piece which left Owls goalkeeper Chris Kirkland grasping at thin air as he tried and failed to keep the ball out of the net.
Chris Eagles - Bolton
Bolton currently occupy sixth place in the table after their 1-1 draw with champions Cardiff in South Wales at the weekend, with midfielder Chris Eagles firing them ahead with 18 minutes on the clock before Craig Noone levelled for the hosts after the break. After forming a guard of honour for the home side, Bolton took the lead as Eagles started and finished a fine move, arriving in the penalty area to sweep Sam Ricketts' low cross beyond David Marshall. Wanderers fans will hope for more of the same in their season-finale against Blackpool at the Reebok.
James Vaughan - Huddersfield
Despite having 57 points to their name, Huddersfield are still not assured of another season of Championship football next season, such is the congested nature of the relegation scrap at the wrong end of the table. The Terriers have striker James Vaughan to thank for their latest success, however, as his treble against a Bristol City side already condemned to the drop eased their nerves ahead of the final round of fixtures. Top-scorer Vaughan combined superbly with Lee Novak for his treble and the duo will hope for more of the same against Barnsley at the weekend.
Martin Paterson - Burnley
Burnley's 2-1 victory over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday ensured they will be playing Championship football next season and has left the home side on the brink of demotion to the third tier of the English game. After Danny Ings gave the visitors the perfect start with only eight minutes gone, striker Martin Paterson was on hand to score from close range in the second period to double their advantage. The pressure is now off for Sean Dyche's men as they bring the curtain down on their season with a home meeting against Ipswich on Saturday.
