Team of the week

David Martin - MK Dons

The MK Dons goalkeeper helped bring an end to Sheffield United's unbeaten start to the season. He kept the Blades quiet on numerous occasions including a first half stop from a Nick Blackman strike as MK Dons moved within three points of an automatic promotion spot.

Nathan Thompson - Swindon Town

The 21 year old Swindon defender put in a solid performance at the back as Swindon kept a clean sheet for the second game in a row, with the result moving them into the play-off places.

Tommy Elphick - Bournemouth

Bournemouth centre-back Tommy Elphick was instrumental in ensuring their good form continued with an impressive 1-0 away win at Doncaster. The former Brighton defender's aerial dominance helped Bournemouth to hold on for the three points in a tightly fought game.

Ash Taylor - Tranmere Rovers

Wales Under 21 international Ash Taylor put in another strong performance as Tranmere's impressive start continued. The big defender has become a vital part of Tranmere's defence and they moved five points clear at the top of League One after Saturday's 1-0 win at Oldham.

Angelo Balanta - MK Dons

On loan QPR winger Angelo Balanta caused Sheffield United problems all afternoon and MK Dons almost opened the scoring when his cross found Ryan Lowe who should have done better. The 22 year old Colombian is currently in his third season on loan from QPR.

Zac Thompson - Bury

Young midfielder Zac Thompson opened the scoring for Bury when his first half strike found its way through a crowded box and into the bottom corner. Thompson is currently on a month's loan from Leeds United and his composure in midfield will be missed when he returns to Elland Road.

Jonathan Douglas - Brentford

The former Leeds and Blackburn midfielder opened the scoring when he volleyed home Harry Forrester's first half corner as Brentford moved within a point of the play-offs. Douglas has provided the engine in Brentford's midfield in recent weeks as they made it five games unbeaten.

Nicky Wroe - Preston North End

Preston midfielder Nicky Wroe added Preston's fourth with a neat strike from outside the box in their 4-1 win at Stevenage. The win was their fifth game unbeaten as they continue to push for a return to the Championship.

Jeffrey Monakana - Preston North End

Young winger Jeffrey Monakana scored Preston's third with a second half strike from the edge of the box. The 19-year-old caused Stevenage problems all afternoon before being replaced by David Buchanan late on.

Dominic Poleon - Bury

On loan Leeds striker Dominic Poleon impressed once again for Kevin Blackwell's side as they beat Portsmouth 2-0 at Gigg Lane. Poleon was a constant thorn in the Portsmouth side and his pace won second half penalty which Steven Schumacher converted to seal the win.

Leon Clarke - Scunthorpe United

League One's joint top goal scorer Leon Clarke made it 10 goals for the season with his double in Saturday's 2-1 win away to Coventry. He opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before half time and he sealed the victory with a cool second half finish as Scunthorpe recorded a vital win.
