Ahead of Monday night's unmissable Manchester derby we've been canvassing opinion on who would make a select XI made up from both clubs. The views of Sky Sports writers and editors, along with those of our sister titles, have been sought to create a best Manchester XI based on this season.

With just three points separating Manchester City and Manchester United going into Monday night's gargantuan clash, live on Sky Sports HD1, it was always likely to be a contentious debate as to who got the nod to make the final XI. Both Roberto Mancini and Sir Alex Ferguson might have something to say about it, but the team we've picked best represents the views of the journalists we canvassed. We feel it also gives a fair indication as to why just a hair's breadth separates the champions from their noisy neighbours with three games left to play.
