Striker happy with drop into League One

Huddersfield Town striker Alan Lee insists that dropping down a division to sign for the Terriers is not a gamble. The former Republic of Ireland international joined from Championship outfit Crystal Palace in late August for an undisclosed fee. However, with the Terriers currently occupying a place in the top six, Lee told skysports.com that it was an opportunity he simply could not refuse. "I never asked to leave Crystal Palace or anything and I had a wonderful two years there, but I knew that Huddersfield had been interested in me for quite a while with bids turned down," he said. "When a club accepts a bid for you then your motivations change because as a player you always want to be wanted by your club. "I looked at Huddersfield and saw a club which like to play good football and have big ambitions to go with it.

Tight budget

"Crystal Palace had their struggles last year and given the tight budget that George (Burley) had to work with there this season it was never going to be enough to challenge at the right end of the table this season. "Huddersfield, on the other hand, offers a different experience that will hopefully end in promotion this season." The Terriers face a rejuvenated Southampton on Saturday, with the Saints unbeaten in their last five games under new boss Nigel Adkins and Lee knows just how big a game it could be for both sides. "There is a lot of excitement around the town regarding the game on Saturday and the boys have looked really sharp in training this week," he said. "We just can't wait to go out on Saturday and get things started again."
