Zapata claims Gunners interest

Defender says several sides are monitoring his situation

Zapata: Gunners link

Udinese defender Cristian Zapata has claimed a number of clubs, including Arsenal, have made enquiries about his availability.

The powerful Colombian was linked with a move to the Gunners last summer after it was suggested Udinese rejected a £9.5million bid.

Zapata, 22, has impressed in Serie A this campaign and he has suggested a move away from Stadio Friuli could be in the offing.

Zapata said: "Juventus, Fiorentina, Milan, Arsenal and Villarreal have asked for information about me.

"Lots of teams follow me, but there is need of a concrete offer. I feel good. I played a good championship on a personal level and I am happy.

"Being in Italy also gives me the opportunity to play for my country and attempt to go to the World Cup in South Africa next year."

He added to calciomercato.com: "I repeat I have a contract until 2013, but if Udinese receive a good offer they will sell me.

"Udinese have no need to sell me quickly. I am 22 and I have become a guarantee. We will see what happens in the future."
