Notts County Ladies have signed Arsenal and England goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain on loan for the rest of the Women's Super League season.
Chamberlain was part of Mark Sampson's squad for the Women's World Cup in Canada, coming off the bench when Karen Bardsley was forced off with an infected eye in the quarter-final win over the hosts.
But the 31-year-old has been unable to force Ireland international Emma Byrne out of her position as Arsenal No 1 and County manager Rick Passmoor stepped in to offer her a chance to play more regularly.
Chamberlain joined Arsenal at the start of 2014 after a successful spell with Bristol Academy but she made only one appearance for the Gunners.
Fellow England 'keeper Carly Telford is also part of the Lady Pies squad, but she returned from the World Cup with a shoulder problem and Chamberlain will provide cover for her.
Passmoor said: “To be able to bring in a player of Siobhan’s calibre at this stage of the season is a real boost for this football club.
"With such a short season in terms of the number of games played, every game is vitally important and although we’ve only lost Carly briefly, to bring in a suitable replacement was important and we’d like to thank Arsenal for their co-operation in making this happen.”
