Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has ruled out big spending next season despite securing Premier League status.

Leicester City secured their Premier League status last weekend but manager Nigel Pearson has said that they will be realistic with their spending targets.

"Just because we've secured our Premier League status, we won't be shelling out ridiculous amounts of money. We will consider 'marquee' signings, but we will also be realistic about our targets and what we can achieve," he said.

"We know the areas we want to strengthen but any players we bring in have to enhance what we already have here."

Leicester, Newcastle and Man United all to win NOW 13/2

Leicester, who guaranteed their place in next season's Barclay's Premier League with a 0-0 draw at Sunderland last weekend, play their last game of the campaign against Queen's Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Sunday.

"A win would be a fitting finish, but playing a side wanting to finish positively too we must be wary of, and respectful of QPR," he added.

And Pearson found time to praise striker Jamie Vardy, who has been called into the England squad for the upcoming double header against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia.

"It has been a remarkable rise for Jamie and it reflects positively on his team-mates too," said Pearson, who added those calling for him to be named manager of the year would have been 'sectioned for their decision', had they made it two months ago.
