Lines has not fluffed chance

Chris Lines could still have a future at Port Vale despite finishing the season with Bristol Rovers, according to Valiants boss Rob Page.

Lines, who has a year remaining on his current contract at Vale Park, has been on loan with Rovers since March 9 as he tries to help his home-town club win promotion back to the Football League. The 29-year-old midfielder wanted to play regular football after losing his place in Vale's starting line-up to Michael O'Connor and Michael Brown. "Chris has another year on his contract and we will have a look at that again in the summer," Page told the Sentinel. "Chris wanted to play games. Michael Brown was in great form, and everybody is talking about Michael O'Connor, so with two players like that I could understand Chris's frustration. "I just thought it was good business sense to get the full wages recovered from Bristol Rovers and get Tommy O'Sullivan in on loan. He has just as much quality but cost far less from a wages point of view."
