Gareth Bale and Luka Modric are both doubts for Real Madrid's Champions League quarter-final second-leg against rivals Atletico after limping out of Saturday's 3-1 win over Malaga with leg injuries.

Madrid spokesman Emilio Burtagueno said they were "concerned" about both players, who will have scans on Sunday to discover the extent of the problems.

"It's a bad moment for Bale to get hurt. We will have to see what the tests say tomorrow," said Burtagueno. "And Modric also worries us. When we only have four days before the quarter-final return leg, it's not good news."

Bale, who was rested for Real's match with Eibar last weekend due to muscle fatigue but played in Tuesday's goalless first leg at Atletico, lasted just four minutes of the game before sitting on the turf clutching his left calf and was quickly replaced by Javier Hernandez.

And his former Tottenham team-mate Modric, who was out for three months earlier in the season with a thigh injury, followed him off on 57 minutes after hurting his right knee.

Karim Benzema also missed the Malaga match with a knee problem but coach Carlo Ancelotti is more optimistic that he will be ready to face Atletico.

"At the moment we can't say anything but we will evaluate the situation over the next few days," Ancelotti told a news conference.

"I think that he (Benzema) will be okay (to face Atletico) as he is improving. We have several days and he could well recover."
