Tony Cascarino believes Roy Hodgson's England must be more adventurous and braver against bigger and better nations.

Hodgson's men travel to Italy for Tuesday's friendly international looking to avenge their World Cup defeat in Brazil last June.

The England manager will be missing nine players from the squad which defeated Lithuania 4-0 in their European Qualifier on Friday night, which means he is likely to start with a number of fringe players in an experimental line-up at the Juventus Stadium in Turin.

Hodgson's squad boast a 100 per cent record in friendlies and European Qualifying games since their World Cup failure, having played seven and won seven, scoring an impressive 19 goals and conceding just two.

There are so many players prepared to get into an area to score goals - that was against Lithuania - but they've got to do that against bigger and better nations.

And with England expected to play high-profile friendlies against Spain, Holland and France before next year's European Championship finals, Sky Sports expert Cascarino told The Morning View that the current squad are technically good enough to compete at the highest level.

"I think England must be assessed after the next Euros (France 2016). They're going to qualify comfortably and Roy and his staff couldn't have done any more." said the former Chelsea and Marseille striker.

More from Italy V England

"I think they lacked adventure in the last World Cup in Brazil. The opening game against Italy, (Andrea) Pirlo dominated the game. How can you let a guy so talented on the ball? And England already had experience of him doing that against them (at the European Championships in 2012).

England 4-0 Lithuania: Highlights

"I thought tactically they were wrong against Costa Rica and Uruguay - it didn't go well.

"Roy will have to come up with new, fresh ideas and his team has got to have more adventure. He's got so much available to him in pace, and technical ability in the forward areas.

"I think England have to be braver and I think they've shown that in the group. They beat Lithuania 4-0 and there was one instance when (Wayne) Rooney hit the bar, and there was five players in the 18-yard box. You wouldn't have seen that 18 months ago.
