Hartlepool are out of the relegation places in Sky Bet League Two after they beat Cambridge United 2-1 at Victoria Park.

Brad Walker scored the Pools opener after 20 minutes before Matt Harrold equalised for the U's, but Scott Harrison drilled home a stunning goal from 18 yards to secure a fourth straight victory for Ronnie Moore's side.

Cheltenham dropped to the bottom of the Football League after they lost 3-0 at home to Plymouth, a result that takes the Pilgrims into the play-off places.

Reuben Reid scored twice at Whaddon Road, with Zak Ansah heading home a third goal four minutes from time.

Moore's former club Tranmere now occupy the second relegation place, despite George Green scoring a stoppage-time equaliser as they drew 1-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon.

Adebayo Akinfenwa opened the scoring after 29 minutes but his side could not hold on to secure all three points.

A look back at the weekend's action from Sky Bet League 2

York boosted their survival hopes with a 4-1 win away to Mansfield, despite the Minstermen's goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik being sent off after 32 minutes for handling outside his area, as Shaq Coulthirst netted twice.

Carlisle are now just three points clear of the drop zone after they lost 2-1 away to Oxford, Kyle Vassell scoring the winner 10 minutes from time.

At the other end of the table, Shrewsbury and Wycombe kept up the pressure on leaders Burton with victories.

Bobby Grant scored both of Shrewsbury’s goals as they won 2-0 against Portsmouth at Fratton Park, while Wycombe broke down Dagenham and Redbridge’s stubborn resistance on 64 minutes as defender Aaron Pierre smashed home from close range.

The Shrews and Chairboys are now two points behind Burton, who face Stevenage in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Monday night.

Bury and Southend remain fourth and fifth, respectively, after heavy rain and subsequent standing water led to their match at Gigg Lane being abandoned after just six minutes.

Elsewhere, Luton’s miserable run continues as they fell to a James Gray goal after 86 minutes to record their sixth league defeat in a row as they went down 2-1 at Northampton, after a Ricky Holmes penalty had cancelled out Alex Lawless’ strike straight after the interval.

In the day's other game, Exeter came from behind to draw 1-1 with Morecambe but they finished the game with 10 men after Tom Nichols - who laid on the pass that saw Alex Nicholls score the equaliser - was sent off for fighting.
