Here is what the Liverpool fans had to say about their top four chances after their defeat to Manchester United.

Nothing hurts quite as much as suffering a potentially season-defining defeat at home to your fiercest rivals, does it?

That's the reality Liverpool fans are waking up to after Manchester United's dramatic 2-1 victory at Anfield on Sunday dealt a significant blow to their top-four aspirations.

Sky Sports have been out to gauge the opinion of Liverpool fans after Sunday's game and, with just eight games to go, where the result leaves their season.

By contrast, United fans have been basking in their victory, as Juan Mata's double sealed only their second win at Anfield since 2007.

Having beaten Liverpool, United fans' attention has turned to catching city rivals Manchester City, as well as consolidating an automatic Champions League qualification spot.

Do you agree with supporters who claim Liverpool’s season is effectively over, or is there still hope for Brendan Rodgers' side? Can Louis van Gaal's United catch the champions and finish second?
