Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman says his club will have to move "at the speed of light" if they are to bring a striking target in on loan.

Freedman has been working around the clock to get the deal for an unnamed striker over the line, but admits they are coming up against stiff competition for his signature.

"We are getting close. There is fierce competition right now," the Forest boss said after Wednesday's 2-0 win over Rotherham.

"This will really test my talks that I give to players, this will really test what the club is about in terms of how quickly we can move.

"It's fierce competition for strikers right now. We are getting close to someone that we feel can help us.

"It's about convincing them we can develop them and making sure they get some game time.

"There is a lot of things we have to talk about to players these days to convince them we are the right club, which is hard when there are 10 or 12 clubs chasing him.

"We have to move at the speed of light, we are working very hard.

"I know what's happening, we are working on it as we speak, we are trying our very best to add just a little bit to help the lads."

Forest kept their slim play-off hopes alive with the routine success over Rotherham, which Freedman said gave them a "great chance" of gatecrashing the top six with eight games to go.
