Malaga boosted their chances of a Europa League berth next season and closed within five points of Villarreal as they saw off struggling Cordoba 2-0.
Juanmi gave Malaga the lead three minutes after half-time, before Nordin Amrabat rounded off the win six minutes from the end.
Villarreal drew 0-0 at Almeria earlier on Sunday, with both sides seeing red either side of half-time.
