Carlisle closing in on history

Carlisle will set a new club record for the number of league games without a draw if they beat or lose to Southend this weekend.

The Cumbrians have gone 26 games without a stalemate in League Two and are one more away from beating the current record shared with the team who went on a similar run over two seasons in 1929/30 and 1930/31. Carlisle's last drawn league game was a 4-4 draw against AFC Wimbledon at Brunton Park on September 6. They have since won 10 and lost 16 of their league fixtures to go one better than a run of 25 games without a stalemate set by the club during the 1974/75 season when they were in the old First Division.
